Folks, it just doesn’t get much rarer than this.

Go ahead and search the Internet for original examples of artwork by Gill. You won’t find more than 2 or 3 of them and their price tags are in the $2,000 to 5,000 a piece range.

The artist known as Gill is a mystery.

All that is really known about Gill is that sometime beginning in the 1930’s he painted paintings in this style, using mostly Hawaiian Themes, and that these paintings were either framed or retailed through a San Francisco shop called Permalee.

I have been in the Estate Liquidation business for the last 13 years, and I have only personally seen two other examples of this artist’s works.

What’s interesting about this artist is that he is almost completely unknown, and yet there’s a strong marketplace for his works. This is almost a complete anomaly in the art market place; a contemporary unknown artist whose paintings not only have value, but a value that is rising.

This magnificent painting by Gill is 100 percent Original and it is NOT a reproduction, also it is in its original Permalee frame.

The painting is of the coast of California, most likely the Monterey Coast and depicts a Monterey Pine with waves crashing on the rocks below.

I estimate that this painting has about 30 – 35% hand painting.

This painting came from a Fresno California estate sale.
