Painting by JOHN J. ENGLEHART:
Total Item Description: Beautiful painting by a fine Early California Artist. This painting came out of a Vallejo CA. Estate. Not sure what part of California that the painting depicts. On the back scrolled in light pencil are two words, not sure what the y spell, but the first word appears to be “Lake” and the second word appears to start with the letter “T.” Great Overall Condition. The following is from Suzanne of Bumps Gallery who references Edan Hughes, “Artists in California, 1786-1940.” Joseph John Englehart (1867-1915) was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 14, 1867. During the late 1880s and 1890s, he maintained a studio in San Francisco on Clay Street and a residence across the bay in Alameda. A prolific painter, he is known throughout the Northwest for his oils of Oregon, Washington, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Mount Shasta, and Alameda County. Although he used J. Enright, Lang, J. Hart, and other pseudonyms, invariably he signed his oils “J. Englehart” or “J. J. Englehart” and occasionally “J. Englehardt.” This Item Is Now For Sale In Our Ruby Lane Shop(Product Photos: Valetta Ciarla) |
